All Kinds of Christmas Fun

On Parents' Night I told you that the band would rock and roll during Christmas week, and they did!  It is remarkable because they started band in September. The girls did a fabulous job, and we all loved it!  Today was a lot of fun also, as the girls in strings prepared for the service, the choir practiced, and the shepherds and ensemble got ready for our beautiful gift service.  Rebecca Merrick is truly a gifted music teacher.  The girls sounded like angels, and their wonderful teacher was fighting the flu.  You would never have guessed it.

Enjoy some of the pictures that I have taken over the course of the week.  I hope that all of you have a great rest and a Merry, Merry Christmas!

Roberts' Fourthies Have Some Fun

Hi Everyone,

Christmas spirits are high in the Fourthie classrooms!  You can hear the faint sound of Christmas songs everywhere, and then again, not so faint, as it was today.  The girls made and decorated stockings for our "fireplace." Glitter was abundant, music was loud, and a good time was had by all.
The choir girls are practicing hard for Friday's Gift Service at St. Stephen's.  The service will be held at 10:00.  Immediately after the service, you may pick your daughter up in the classroom.  Every girl is participating in the service.  We have the choir, strings, the readers, Mary, a king, the shepherds...we are all involved and having a wonderful time during this special season.

I am posting some pictures of activities today and recently.

See you on Friday,

Pam

Don't miss December! It is here!

-->
Dear Parents,

When Christmas headbands arrive in the classroom, and you hear the faint sound of bells, you know you are in the season!  The girls have listed their favorite Christmas songs on a survey on the blog, and soon we will be putting them into an iMovie.  As exciting as all of this is, we are still trying to focus on Advent.  It’s not Christmas yet!

The girls are finishing a unit in math that introduces algebra in the form of open sentences, as well as true and false sentences.  The concept is challenging, but the girls are doing well.  Katherine Applewhite is also helping with math on Thursdays and Fridays, which is great.  She handles the Sunshine Math, which gives the girls another venue for problem solving.  Do you use QR Codes?  Well, soon your daughters will.  We are working on math problems that will involve QR Codes.  Ssh!
That is later this week!

Thank you so much for your support of our Christmas Outreach.  The tree in the foyer looks as if Santa has already arrived.  You have helped many families to have a better Christmas!

Pam

P.S.  Don’t forget to look at the many useful websites listed on the blog.
